Newcomers

CCOBRA welcomes newcomers. A great bunch of guys and gals ride, socialize, cheer, and support one another at every race.

CCOBRA's club rules are posted on this site and have enough legalese to bore you, but you will find topics such as membership fees, entry fees, and of coarse...rules.

If you would like to become a member, you can get the membership and release form  here and fill it out in advance.

But before you go there... read on.

"Barrel racing tests the speed and agility of a horse and rider in a cloverleaf pattern around three identical barrels. The clock is started electronically as the horse crosses the starting line at full speed. The rider may chose to maneuver around the cloverleaf towards the right or left, and the clock stops when the pattern is completed and the horse crosses the finish line. A five-second penalty is given for each barrel that is overturned. However, no penalty is given for touching a barrel, even if it is done to keep it from falling. A contestant is disqualified for crossing the finish line without completing the standard cloverleaf pattern." (excerpt by Brenda Ruggiero)

The course may be run to the right, as shown above, or to the left. If the first turn is clockwise, the second two turns must be counterclockwise, and vice versa.
